Today is Pablo and María's first day of school.

Nervous and excited, they get a notebook, a pencil, a pen, and an eraser ready. They put everything in a school bag.

María looks at herself in the mirror and touches up her hair. She smiles contentedly.

Pablo checks, once again, that he has his reading glasses.

They both leave their house together. Their son is waiting for them in the car to take them to school: They're going to learn to read. She'll start with the letters, just like she did a long time ago; he'll pretend to learn so she won't feel alone in the classroom.

After the stroke, life gives them another chance and they are not going to waste it. They begin a new journey at sixty!

Aujourd'hui, c'est la rentrée des classes pour Pablo et María.

À la fois nerveux et excités, ils préparent un cahier, un crayon, un stylo et une gomme. Ils mettent tout dans leur cartable.

María se regarde dans le miroir et arrange ses cheveux. Elle sourit, satisfaite.

Pablo vérifie une dernière fois qu'il a bien ses lunettes.

Ils quittent la maison ensemble. Leur fils les attend dans la voiture pour les emmener à l'école : ils vont apprendre à lire. Elle commencera par les lettres, comme autrefois; il fera semblant d'apprendre pour qu'elle ne se sente pas seule en classe.

Après l’accident vasculaire cérébral, la vie leur offre une nouvelle chance et ils comptent bien la saisir. Ils entament une nouvelle étape à soixante ans!
