Un astrónomo solía salir por las noches para observar las estrellas. 

An Astronomer used to go out at night to observe the stars.

Una noche, mientras paseaba por los suburbios con toda su atención puesta en el cielo, cayó accidentalmente en un pozo profundo. 

One evening, as he wandered through the suburbs with his whole attention fixed on the sky, he fell accidentally into a deep well.

Mientras lloraba y se lamentaba por sus heridas y magulladuras, y daba gritos pidiendo ayuda, un vecino corrió hacia el pozo, y comprendiendo lo que había sucedido dijo : "Escuche atentamente viejo amigo, ¿tanto esfuerzo en ver lo que hay en el cielo...para no ver lo que hay en la tierra?

While he lamented and bewailed his sores and bruises, and cried loudly for help, a neighbor ran to the well, and learning what had happened said: "Hark ye, old fellow, why, in striving to pry into what is in heaven, do you not manage to see what is on earth?"

Moraleja: Está bien mirar y conocer a nuestro alrededor, pero antes hay que saber donde se está parado

Moral: It’s ok to look and know all what is around but first of all we have to know were we are stopped.
