Amor es mi pecado, y tu virtud
Es odio por mi amor pecaminoso,
Mas compara tu estado con el mío
Y verás qué injusto es tu reproche.
Es injusto, al menos, en tus labios
Que al igual que los míos, con frecuencia
Rubricaron contratos traicioneros
Que a otros lechos las rentas esquilmaron.
Deja pues que te ame cual tú amas
A quien ávida sigues con los ojos.
Cultiva la piedad, y por piadosa
Tal vez merezcas que de ti se apiaden.
Si buscas que te den lo que a otros niegas,
Quizá te perjudique el propio ejemplo.

Root pity in thy heart, that, when it grows,
